  Blog 4: Angela Black- Bethel-Hanberry Elementary   (Bethel-Hanberry Elementary, n.d.) Angela Black is a librarian at Bethel-Hanberry Elementary. She just became a librarian after being a technology specialist in Richland School District Two for 20 years. The reason why she wanted to become a librarian because it allowed for her to have more direct interaction with students. She stated that she has had her MLIS degree and certification during her whole career. The reason why she chose to take a position as a technology is because she felt it would have some aspects of what a school librarian does. Also, Richland School District Two has technology specialist at every school in the district. Even though she just started being a school librarian, she said that she pursued her MLIS degree because of her love reading. When I asked Mrs. Brandon how she became a librarian she said that she was working at a bank and just so happened a one of the customers was the Richland County Public Librarian. The customer mentioned the MLIS program to her. She wanted to be able to be on a school schedule with her children, but she also knew that she loved books and loved children. Blog 2: Ellen Scott- Blythewood Middle School Ellen Scott is the librarian at Blythewood Middle School in Richland School District Two. When I got to sit down with Mrs. Scott, it was very eye-opening. (Blythewood Middle School, n.d.) First of all, during the interview I asked Mrs. Scott what lead her to become a school librarian. She said that she took a job at another school in Richland School District Two as a technology assistant. What she did not know is that that job would be split--half of her time she would be a technology assistant and the other half of the time she would be the assistant in the library at that school. When she was the library assistant, she was being able to work with kids and talk to them about books. She said that she had an undergraduate degree in Economics, so after working with kids and being encouraged by the librarian at her school, she decided to pursue her Masters in Library Science at USC. Amy Whitfield- Blythewood High School

Blog 1: Amy Whitfield- Blythewood High School  (Blythewood High School, n.d.) Mrs. Whitfield is currently the lead librarian at Blythewood High School in Blythewood, SC. It was great being able to sit down with Mrs. Whitfield to talk about the School Librarians’ Domains and Competencies. However, instead of jumping right into discussing the competency of Curate, I wanted to know how she had become a librarian.  She said that she started teaching as the Computer Science teacher at Fairfield Central High School. Since she was the Computer Science teacher, she always seemed to be called to help the librarian, Cathy Beale, with computer issues.  Each time she went down to help Mrs. Beale, Mrs. Beale would ask her if she would be interested in becoming a librarian.
